Maximum optimization of biological filtering
The original sera siporax Professional is suitable for use in freshwater and saltwater aquariums as well as for use in ponds. Regardless of the type of filter (internal/external/spray filter), the surface area required for biological cleaning is maximized and thus provides the optimal substrate for the settlement of the necessary filter bacteria.
In nature, filtering and decomposition processes in the bottom of waters play a very important role. Organic waste products are transformed by micro-organisms and are thus available again for the natural cycle as a nutrient for aquatic plants - harmful substances such as ammonium, nitrite and nitrate are removed. Because there is little waste in nature in relation to the amount of water, the surface area of the bottom soil is sufficient to accommodate enough micro-organisms.
But in an aquarium there is a small biotope in the smallest space. To ensure complete and safe decomposition of organic residues, it is therefore necessary to maximize the settlement area.

Unlike other filter rings available on the market, sera siporax consists of sintered glass. The unique material convinces with a special three-dimensional pore structure. This allows maximum enlargement of the surface area. At the same time, the fine pores create ideal conditions for bacteria that break down harmful substances. Because it is an interconnected system, the bacteria are permanently surrounded by water and can therefore break down harmful substances with the greatest possible efficiency. In addition, the unique arrangement of the pores enables self-cleaning of the substrate and therefore very long service life of the filter.
In combination with specialized bacteria, sera siporax also enables a wide range of other special applications, such as e.g. the prevention of algae or targeted water treatment.
