Tropica Hygrophila pinnatifida on Cocos
Coco with Hygrophila pinnatifida / pinnate water friend on coconut cavity
• Attractive decorative element
• Very easy to care for and robust
• Natural retreat for fish and shrimp
• For all aquarium sizes
The Pinnate Water Lover, also called Bayed Water Lover, develops lobed leaves in the aquarium with a leather-brown upper side and a wine- to burgundy-red underside. The plant forms horizontal side shoots. Top shoots should be pinched off so that the compact growth is maintained. The horizontal side shoots like to cling to root wood and stones. In smaller groups with a calm background, growth habit and color are very eye-catching. In good light conditions, the compact form is maintained thanks to the moderate growth rate of the plant. This unique species of Hygrophila works best in small groups as an eye-catcher in the aquarium midground against a calm background where its distinctive leaf shape and markings come into their own. The runner-like side shoots are best used for propagation. It has been observed that head cuttings of the erect stems develop poorly. Due to its rather slow growth, the reproduction rate of this plant is not very high. Hygrophila pinnatifida certainly still offers some creative possibilities that have not been exhausted, especially with regard to its ability to cling to root wood and stones.
